Making this here wall paper sized thing to use as promotional artwork, I plan on finishing it before I go to bed tonight (hopefully). Spent all day yesterday on the background alone.
My order of operations here was, first the foreground figure, then I needed to know the where my light sources were before I could continue with that, so I needed to make the background (probably about 12-14 hours). Then it was immediately obvious that I needed another person in the scene, so I did that, and gave him something to do. Then I added the graffiti to the walls, and now I'm going to do the outside the windows background, then I'll finish the piece by finishing the thing I started with.
I like the attention to detail on the aftermath of the explosion. (the drywall being chipped away, dust on the floor, etc.)
It seems that 'Dreams of Canterlot' will need a bit more work, I wanted to upload both that and 'Trapped on the Moon' today, but I'll save dreams for next Friday.
I really should start timing myself on these projects.
You could cut phrases she's said from lots of places, stuff about things being good or random positive descriptions, it doesn't need to mention canterlot.
Actually making pages again, working on page 13 right now, page 11 is up.
Good point, without a sample earlier on, the later ones feel like they were thrown in at the last minute.
Problem is I can't think of any more pony samples that would work off the top of my head. I'd like one where rarity is talking about Canterlot. I'll be watching through the series front to back over the next week but if you can think of one sooner, fill me in.
As for EQ... funny thing. I've been spending so much time messing with Ableton and so little time studying that one day I came home and my right monitor speaker was missing. My bro is hiding it until I get 'back on track' when in all honesty I'm on the right track more than ever. In the meantime I've been having to use headphones which hardly cut it.
Trance:
Evave
Markus Schulz
Armin van Buuren
Sander van Doorn
Above and Beyond
Oceanlab
Ferry Corsten
Gareth Emery
Orjan Nilsen
Kaskade
Vix
Moonpax
Snatt
Arty
BT (not Trance per se, but still amazing music)
EDIT: How could I forget? Nadia Ali
I haven't been following the Trance scene as closely as I would have liked, so there is probably some amazing new talent in that genre. As for House, I haven't explored it nearly enough, but here are a few.
Wolfgang Gartner
Deadmau5
Laidback Luke
Lazy Rich
I guess my House phase was relatively short, seeing how little of my music library is House.
I'd also recommend listening to DI.FM internet radio. http://www.di.fm/
Especially these channels:
Trance
Vocal Trance
Progressive
House
Electro House
If you're feeling especially adventurous, I'd also recommend checking out these channels:
Chillout
Ambient

I ponytized that chillout tune! Aside from some final mastering, this one is complete.
I couldn't think of any more samples where Rarity is talking about how awesome Canterlot is. In the one used at 2:13 there were a few sounds that I had to EQ out, mostly some kind of pinging as rarity was blinking. Couldn't do much about the bubbly sound or the clop. I cheated and threw the whole thing through a low pass filter, which works with the dreamy, surreal mood I was going for.
In other news, remember that one tune I did a while back 'Midsummer Fire'? I decided to revisit it. I changed pretty much every instrument and made it less melodic and more bass driven, as well as added more percussion, almost making it into Tech House with a Trance style lead... Hell I don't know what genre it is now. I was mostly focused on selecting timbres that would contrast with each other less, I think I got that part down at least.
Anyways, I didn't feel like studying, so I experimented with a new VST instrument. This Metaphysical Function and I are going to be good friends. All the sounds in this tune except for the drums, chimes, and cymbals were created by it.
I've been wanting to do an Ambient/Chillout piece about Princess Luna being trapped on the moon for 1,000 years. For only 4 hours of work, this thing sounds amazing.
thats pretty fucking good braden, well done.
Good call.
Inside the building looks awesome. The landscape outside doesn't look right to me.
It's too empty, I feel as if there should be more building behind the industrial towers. Unless this is set at the border of town.
Pretty much done I think, but too tired to be sure, will do finishing touches tomorrow.
(feel free to critique)
finished the back background. I don't think I'm going to make my deadline.

Page 13 WIP:

I was thinking you could just use the "I have always dreamed of living there" at the beginning (as well as where it is currently).

I think dreams of canterlot needs a pony sample near the beginning, and for the volume to be reduced on the pony samples.
HAPPY BELATED DAY OF YOU POPPING OUT OUR MOTHERS VAGINA!

What Buddhist said about sound.
Is it actually your birthday? I know you have a fake one on FB. If it is I'll buy you some alcohol when I never meet you.

Almost all of the songs I posted here are gone from youtube :/.
Btw, you'd think soundcloud, a site with only audio, would have some fucking volume controls.
Beer is wonderful!!!
Sounds pretty fly.
